Directory - Search Tips
The directory search allows you to
- search by keyword - type your search term into the keyword field
- search by service - choose a service type from the drop-down list
- search by region - choose a region from the drop-down list
Use a combination of the three options to narrow your search.
Use the word "AND" to increase search results
Searching for "Community Outcomes Directory" will return results for pages where the words "Community" and "Outcomes" and "Directory" are present in that exact order.
To make your search more flexible, try inserting the word "AND" between each of your search words.
For example, searching using the string "community and outcomes and directory" would return a result where the page contains all of the search words but in no particular order, see below: (words underlined for emphasis):
"This site has a directory of community organisations and is named Community Outcomes ......."
Use wildcards
Look for words that begin with the same letters by using an * (asterisk) as a wildcard. A wildcard search is useful for finding pages with words that have multiple endings. For example, you could enter:
tax*
The results contain pages with words that have the prefix tax, such as tax, taxation, taxable, tax-deducted etc.
Advanced searching using "OR" and "NOT"
You can refine your search results by using any combination of AND, OR, and NOT between your search results.
For example, the following search string "ministry and government not health", would return results where pages had both the words "ministry" and "government" but would exclude those pages that also had the word "health".
Note: Search isn't case sensitive, so don't worry about capitalisation.
